Google Chrome

lol… Sorry, this is just funny. One of the dev team members (Alpha) and I decided to download and try out the Google Chrome web browser.

So, being the error producing people we are, we thought – Hell, we can get this baby to crash in a few minutes. Yes, well, we definitely got it to crash. The following is what happened when Alpha opened up about 1,000 tabs in the browser. Click to view screenshot.

Anyways, my thoughts and opinions of the browser… I don’t like it very much, it’s too simple, and it lacks real functionality. The color scheme is also a bit too, erm… Flamboyant for my taste. I attempted to find a color palet to change this, but was unsuccessful in doing so. I do however like the “Incognito Browser”, which lets you browse without leaving a trail, but that’s about it. If you want to give this browser a go, you can find it here.

Game Whiners

Alright, so I play a lot of online games, and know a lot of people that play games. What I don’t get, is why people sit there every single fucking day, and continue to play a game, when all they do is complain about how much it sucks, or how much the community in it sucks. =/

I complained about a game I used to play, Rappelz. This is a free to play game, so it’s a given that the community’s going to be a bunch of kids or adults trying to compensate in-game for what they lack outside of it. Which is usually being bossed around, or being able to talk shit to people without the repercussion. Needless to say, I no longer play this game. I gave my account and all my in-game shit to friends.

But yeah, I really don’t get it. Can someones life be that fucked up, that even though they get treated like shit in a game and do nothing but complain about it every time you talk to them, still play it? Maybe it’s because they got used to being treated like shit in the real world, that they just take it for granted now? I guess I just find it extremely useless to complain about something and not do anything about it. =\

I guess the only thing I can say to these types of gamers, is that you need to either find a new game, or stop your god damned fucking complaining, because it’s extremely annoying, and no one gives a flying shit since you won’t take any action to stop it.

That’s it for now.

360 Desktop

360Desktop

Well now, I found this program which seems to have been around for a couple of years now, and it seems pretty cool. What it does, is creates a 360 degree desktop on your system. I’m assuming it does this using the API’s to create a side scrolling virtual desktop. Uses up some resources while it’s scrolling, but not enough to really notice. However, it does use a shit load when applying a new wallpaper (they allow users to create, upload and then download 360 degree wallpapers on their website).

I took a screenshot of my desktop with it active. You can see it if you click the link below.

View It Here

It says it’s only built for XP and Vista (sorry you Win98 users =p). It’s not that big I suppose, a little under 7MB forthe install file. It runs two(2) processes: 360desktop.exe (Currently using 168,312K Memory) and 360desktopd.exe (Currently using 2,000k Memory).

I don’t like how when you minimize a window, and restore it, it jumps to an empty portion of the scren, and you have to click it again for it to actually bring it up. I think there’s probably still some bugs, and I’m not sure if this is even in development anymore. I wouldn’t see why it would be, I believe Windows 7 is going to have built in virtual desktops. And as all might know, the API’s have been around to do this for awhile, although weren’t implemented by MicroSoft until Vista, and even then was only to use the Open Application program.

I think that’s about it. I’m most likely going to uninstall it now, because I have no need for it – I wrote my own virtual desktop program years back that I use whenever I run out of desktop space.

Buttered Popcorn

Have you ever gone to the movie theater and ordered popcorn, just to find that only the top portion of it’s buttered?I know I have, and it irks the shit out of me. I came up with a solution to this, or rather, an idea for a solution, since I’ll probably never create or patent it.

What it basically is, is a metallic rod with a soft cone shaped bottom which easily slides into the popcorn bag all the way to the bottom. It would obviously need a working tab or switch in order to open/lift the inside canister, revealing the holes throughout the frame and allowing the butter to flow equally throughout the popcorn bag.

If you’re into engineering or like making things, this would be great for you. If someone does decide to make this for the commercial public, please at the lest just link back to here, lol. Anyways, that’s it for now. Until next time.

Ninja Of The Night

Well, I found this video amusing to watch. So I thought everyone else might enjoy it.

The Descent

Awesome movie – One of the better fright flicks I’ve seen in awhile. Even though it wasn’t a lot of the normal frightening scenes, it’s mostly the anticipation that gets you. They spread the scenes out rather well, which makes it even more frightening when something does happen.

Beginning of the movie starts out with a group of friends witer water rafting. Afterwards, one of them leaves with her husband and daughter. While driving (home I’d assume?) they get into an accident, and the husband and daughter die (although they don’t show the dead kid (*tear*). After that, Sarah (Shauna MacDonald) wakes up in the hospital from her injuries, and freaks out at the loss of her family.

Movie goes on, and the friends are once again together, this time with three more women. They go to what they think is a cave that’s already been discovered, however, Juno (Natalie Mendoza) takes them to an undiscovered cavern system. -I lost my train of thought, because Nikki started a conversation with me, so I’ll finish this up whenever.

Watch the movie though, it’s great.

8/10 for me

Busy, busy, busy…

Haven’t written in here in a little bit – There’s a prefectly logical explanation, lol… We closed off the Phux Arcade to the public, so that we can integrate a new design as well as adding new functions to the arcade. Probably going to take longer than I’d anticipated, which means that we’re most likely going to lose some recurring visitors. Oh well, I suppose =/ The true users will return, and hopefully bring some friends after they see the new additions.

Other than that, idk – Busyness. It’s been uber cold out (I live in Western/Upstate New York), so I refuse to go outside if I don’t have to. I’ve been cracking out on WoW (yeah, yeah – I’ve always been an MMO addict). As well as playing DarkThrone, which is a text based MMO I’ve been playing for a few years. Waiting for my new XBOX 360 to get here ._. The fucker gave me the video chip error not even a month after getting it, lol…

Nikki bought a Sega (She’s a Sonic fan =/), but can’t play it because the remote she bought doesn’t work with the TV we have, lol. So she can’t get channel 3 – Which kinda sucks for me, because my NES/SNES combo system should be here in a couple days, and I won’t be able to play that either. Guess we have to go get a universal, lol.

Guess that’s it for now. I have a long week of scripting this arcade and working out the bugs.

Alright, well – I’ve seen all the other ones, so I had to see this one, and it wasn’t a let down, although it didn’t remind me of a few movies I’ve seen with the plot and location.

Five(5) SEAL’s take a recon mission into Columbian territory, where they’re supposed to gather intel and video on a suspected target. Turns out, it’s a meeting with FARC (A Columbia militant group) and the Colombian Army. Everything turns to shit when an unexpected group of soldiers shows up, and starts killing everyone. Firefight ensues, and one of the SEAL’s is killed.

They retreat, only to find more soldiers awaiting their return to their boat. Boat gets hit with a grenade, another SEAL dies. One SEAL captured, two left to save him. The helo pickup is told to leave, leaving them stranded as a few trucks full of soldiers enter the scene. Another firefight, and they escape in a jeep. They learn that Washington wants to handle this diplomatically.

They save the captured SEAL, and go to visit the single remaining victim of the first attack (A Colombian general). Another attack on another compund, to try and retrieve their video equiptment. After that, it takes a twist, and you’ll have to watch it to find out.

7/10 from me.

Acting was good, direction was good and loads of booms and bangs always makes things better.
